L-Shaped In-Ground Pool
This is a bit similar to a rectangular pool but with a shorter length for a play area that is ideal for kids out there. It also has a longer length, which is excellent for lap swimming.
L-Shaped In-Ground Pool is basically a rectangular pool with a second, shorter length. The shorter length is often the shallow play area, whereas the longer length is ideal for lap swimming. An L-shaped in-ground pool is a great way to add more room for the smaller kids to play while still leaving plenty of room for the older kids.
L-shaped In-Ground pool / Lazy-L shape pool
Its similar to the rectangle shape pool however the L shape is a good choice when you want a pool deep enough for diving but you also want a shallow area to play or for kids.
Typically, the small extension or “foot” that extends from the main section gets used for the shallow end. This configuration allows youngsters to play in one area without interfering with anyone diving or doing laps across the long span.
Similar to the L-Shaped In-Ground Pool is the Lazy L. The Lazy L shape has a shorter offset—more like a “foot.” It resembles a plain rectangle. Often, a lazy L is used to create a rectangle for lap swimming with a spot to locate the entry steps off to the side; this way, the steps don’t obstruct the swim path.
An L-Shape is great for people who like to dive. It is easier to meet code-depth requirements. For example, in a pool with an 8-foot deep end, 22 feet of length must be at least 5-feet deep. The result may be a steep slope—which is not ideal for some families. The L offset offers a safe entry and play area while allowing for a more gradual slope to the deep end.
T-shape pool is also good if you want to combine activities such as diving and play area as well. In this design, the diving area is usually in the T section and the play area on the opposite end. However, homeowners frequently pass on a T because it requires a great deal of space, and the extensive perimeter footage drives up the construction budget, plus you will need a larger cover which also costs more money.
